Olivia's speech is still very, very behind. She's almost two and she only mimics a few words. But, I see that she has been learning a lot lately. You can see that she understands more about communication- the way she interacts with her TV shows (making the mmmmm sound at the right time in the Little Einsteins show, clapping at the end). She blows kisses and plays peek a boo on her own. She gets so excited and yells when she is happy. She makes a rrr sound when she "rolls it up".
And she will repeat (when she wants to) ball, dada, mama (rarely), and hi. She will do the more sign when she watches her signs video and even sometimes mimics us when we do it.
She's more vocal overall. More sounds, more syllables, more communication. Great sounds.
Ashley, her speech therapist, told Brian that she isn't worried at all that Olivia's speech will come right along. And that is a really good thing to hear.
