Hip update

With me being sick earlier this week, we forgot about Olivia's Dr. appt on Thursday to see Dr. Frick in Charlotte until Brian remembered an hour before.

He hurried to Charlotte and they were able to work O in.

The basic summary is that Olivia's hip joint looks better than it did before, but Dr. Frick still thinks it isn't progressing as it should. He hopes that with O getting back to weight bearing and stepping, the hip joint will begin to form faster. If it continues on this path, an osteotomy on the femur ball and the socket will take place when she is four or five. Eessh. I don't want another surgery. But, nothing we need to worry about now. Gotta keep our focus on getting baby girl back on her feet again.

He agreed with Dr. Koman that surgery on the hands is not going to be helpful and thinks any correction to the thumb webbing should wait a couple more years.

He wants her in her AFOs as much as possible, and Brian told him that Jeanine had us on a plan to have her sleep in them at night as well. He agreed that was a good plan.

So, not the best news in the world, but at least the hip looks better. And of course, it is nice to know that we have a great surgeon and a fabulous PT helping take care of our girl!

I pray that she gets back to weight bearing more and the hip starts forming correctly! I know that's something you don't want to go through again....surgeries are tough. At this point we are more than likely going to have the osteotomy of the femur and pelvis reformation done at the time of relocating Haley's hip. No fun!
