In her own time

You think I would have learned by now. As much as Olivia has proven it to me, you think I would know by now that she is going to learn new things in her own time.

She's proven it yet again this week. She now tries to count on her fingers. She doesn't know which fingers match which numbers, but she gets the concept that somehow you use your fingers when saying numbers.

And tonight, she was on her knees at the side table, looking at a picture of the four of us, and she said, "Da-da". So then we gave her the picture and she kept pointing out each person over and over again, all the while babbling like she was naming each person.

She said "da-da" while pointing at Brian, and "Gay-guh" as she pointed out Jacob (so amazing!!). She has RARELY ever said da-da, and even when she has said it, we could never be sure if she was naming Brian or if it was just a sound. And she has never said "Jacob". We were just amazed and we sat there forever just trying to get her to say it again and again.

It sounded like my name was "ba-ba". Oh well. One day, maybe I'll be "ma-ma". For now, I'm tickled pink to be "ba-ba".

Thank you God for teaching me patience through our sweet girl. And for reminding me that MY plan doesn't hold a candle to YOUR plan.
